A Perspective on the History of OSLI

The story of OSLI’s formation is as fluid, and varied, as the number of people and companies involved in it. While we celebrate the “performance milestone” of the Charter signing in April 2010 as the start of OSLI, the reality is that more than three years earlier, significant work, time, imagination and tenacity were being applied to this idea of changing the way companies approach collective challenges in oil sands development.

As early as 2007, extraordinary men and women within companies, government, and local communities were pushing the boundaries of the norm by advocating collaboration at a scale never seen before. We thank these early risk takers who succeeded in building a “solution space”, a new way of listening, responding and supporting creativity.
